Motivation
After having the class discussions, and watching the presentations on motivations, my eyes have really been opened up to the fact that money is not always the best motivator. Money can be a motive for jobs involving only mechanical skills, but as for jobs that require any sort of cognitive skill, people have been known to perform worse when higher incentives are involved. It is clear that in order to be more productive, and to make more money working for a company, the less people think about money, the better their performance. Without worrying about money, the mind is more open, creative, and better suited for problem solving. The motivation for our work should come from working on what we love. Which will significantly increase our productivity, and in return, our pay. My motivation for attending UNC Charlotte comes from two things. Over the Summer I worked with my dad installing security cameras on school and transit buses. We traveled all over the East Coast to various locations ranging from southern Georgia, all the way to Rhode Island. It was very physical labor working anywhere from 8-14 hour days back to back. Some of the buses that we worked on were in almost intolerable conditions, with temperatures up to 110-120 degrees. I don't want to have to spend my entire life running wire on buses and hanging cameras to make a living, I want to be able to have a good career doing what I love. I want to be able to wake up every morning with a smile on my face as I go into work because I love my job. I love being healthy and working out, and I would like to help others, and inspire people to reach their full potential with their own body. UNCC offers courses in Athletic Training that would allow me to be able to have a career doing exactly what I love.
